Brazilian Red Bird Eater

Lasiodora difficilis

LasiodoraTheraphosidae

intermediate

Overview

**Brazilian Red Bird Eater** — Similar in size and care to L. parahybana but distinguished by its richer reddish-brown coloration and slightly less common availability. Another large, fast-growing bird eater from eastern Brazil.

Care is essentially identical to L. parahybana: warm temperatures, moderate humidity, large enclosure, and large prey items at maturity. L. difficilis is generally considered slightly calmer than L. parahybana by some keepers, though individual temperament varies widely.

As with all large Lasiodora, urticating hair bombardment during maintenance is a real concern. An excellent choice for keepers who want a large, impressive display animal with manageable care requirements.
