A large, calm South American ground-dweller and one of the better beginner Grammostola. Most individuals are very docile and hardy, and they tend to sit out in the open — a good display species. Can go long stretches without food. Keep on mostly dry substrate with a slightly damp corner, a hide, and a water dish at room temperature. Slow growth and a long life. New World: urticating hairs, non-medically-significant venom.
