Sulawesi Black Earth Tiger

Cyriopagopus sp. Sulawesi Black

CyriopagopusTheraphosidae

advanced

Overview

A large, dark Indonesian earth tiger and an undescribed hobby form, so care follows the fossorial Cyriopagopus (Ornithoctoninae) genus and is noted as such. Wants deep, consistently moist substrate to build a silk-lined burrow, plus a cork hide and good airflow; keep it humid with a water dish. Old World with no urticating hairs and potent venom; it is very fast and can be markedly defensive, especially if it lacks enough substrate to burrow. Advanced only, strictly no handling. Reported adult sizes run large (some keepers cite 10"+); we list a conservative 6-8" range.
