Electric Blue Tarantula

Chilobrachys sp. 'Electric Blue'

ChilobrachysTheraphosidae

Overview

**Electric Blue Tarantula** — An undescribed Chilobrachys species that exploded in hobby popularity from ~2023 onward. Adults display a vivid metallic electric-blue coloration that is among the most striking of any tarantula — widely considered a genuinely extraordinary-looking animal.

⚠️ OLD WORLD SPECIES (formally undescribed): No urticating hairs; extremely fast and defensive; Old World venom. For experienced keepers ONLY. This species' wild popularity has led to overbreeding caution — verify ethical sourcing.

Care follows standard Chilobrachys parameters: moist compactable substrate, high humidity from a tropical Thai habitat, warm temperatures. A fast grower and reliable feeder like other Chilobrachys. Despite being undescribed, care requirements are well-established through extensive keeper experience since its introduction to the hobby.

The blue coloration is most vivid on freshly molted adults and may appear more grey-blue at other times. Slings are brown and unremarkable — the electric blue develops with maturity.
