Cryptic Earth Tiger

Chilobrachys dyscolus

ChilobrachysTheraphosidae

advanced

Overview

**Cryptic Earth Tiger** — A widely distributed Chilobrachys from mainland Southeast Asia. Brown and grey with subtle darker markings — not the most visually arresting species but a solid, reliable keeper with the characteristic Chilobrachys work ethic (eats everything, grows fast, builds constantly).

⚠️ OLD WORLD SPECIES: No urticating hairs; fast and defensive. For experienced keepers.

Care is standard Chilobrachys: moist substrate, warm temperatures, high humidity. C. dyscolus is a useful species for keepers who want a lower-cost, lower-profile Asian fossorial to add biodiversity to their collection. Taxonomy of this species has been confused historically — some animals sold as C. dyscolus may represent related undescribed forms.
