Aspinochilus rufus
Aspinochilus • Theraphosidae
A warm peach-toned Asian arboreal from Java, long traded as 'Phormingochilus sp. Rufus' and since moved to the genus Aspinochilus (both names kept here). Care follows the Asian arboreal (Ornithoctoninae) pattern: a vertical cork retreat plus a few inches of moist substrate — it will web heavily and often dig — with plant cover, good airflow, and a water dish. Old World: no urticating hairs, potent venom, fast and defensive, and it typically seals its retreat before molting. Advanced only, strictly no handling.
