Overview

**Texas Brown Tarantula** — The most widespread native US tarantula. Males are commonly seen crossing roads in late summer and fall during breeding season, which is where most people first encounter this species. Females can live 35+ years in captivity, making this one of the longest-lived invertebrate pets available. Requires a dry enclosure with excellent ventilation. Very tolerant of temperature swings that match its native climate. A one-of-a-kind piece of American natural history.
